Dota 2 All Star Weekend which was held at MOA arena on Oct. 14-16, 2017 was organized by Poplife together with All Access Production. It was not a good experience for most of the dota2 audiences because many complaints about order and organization were thrown right on the first day of that 3-day event. I must see the real situation so i did attend the subsequent days and it was true.
Having seated with my friend at the gen-ad section, I have noticed that there were so many kids and parents around who know nothing about Dota2. I asked one the venue staff regarding the class of audiences, only to find out that they were paid by the organizers to adequately supply the crowd appropriate to shoot a hollywood film, Underdogs Uprising. Okay, so that’s why.. but I really can’t enjoy watching because there were marching bands playing while the casters were discussing about the pick. And there’s a camera crane on the middle overlapping the screen which made difficult for us to watch the game.
On the 3rd day of that event, we were at the vip section. So I assumed this day would be better. And yeah, I enjoyed watching the game despite of the camera crane. Thanks to TNC for making the game exciting to watch! The crew took shoots again for clips of their hollywood film. I just had a little advice, that they should have taken a shots before the last game so there would be more audience that they could use.
Overall, for me it’s not as good as the previous Dota2 events held here in Philippines but I still supported it. Maybe the organizers don’t know a lot about esports. Maybe they lack time to advertise it. There are many maybe’s and mistakes but I’m still grateful for organizing esports events such as this in my own country. And I will continue my passion capturing the beauty of esports. Thanks for reading 🙂
